DENALI at Mt. McKinley Park
The Roof of North America

Our trip to Denali began at the train station in Wassilla. We were much too excited to notice the misty rain and the overcast skies. But we soon knew it was going to be a rainy day.
Vendors Tops of cars in rain
Denali (Mt. McKinley park) is so big, it makes its own weather. This was to be our fate of overcast skies and low visibility during our 3 day visit. But heck, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade and enjoy the trip.
River of ice water
Rainy but exciting four hour ride got us to the Denali train station. It's a bumpy bus ride from here to the hotel. Much construction being done in the short season.
Into the park we go on a bus. No cars allowed. Quiet and cool even in August, Winter is just a month and a half away for this grizzly bear country. Light fades early and snow will begin in the end of September.
End of the trail. Everybody off the bus and take a break
Just some trail mix and hot chocolate
Dinali! The land that time forgot. This is tundra country folks.
And on it goes! No trees just low brush and tundra
